Kia ora koutou katoa,
We are honoured to invite you to the NZ Cup 2025—Karate New Zealand’s first national Karate event of the year! This prestigious competition will be hosted in Hamilton and is open to New Zealand Karate-ka aged 14 years and above in premier divisions.
📅 Dates: Saturday, 29th March & Sunday, 30th March 2025
📍 Venue: Hamilton Boys' High School, 47/45 Peachgrove Road, Hamilton East, Hamilton 3216
We look forward to welcoming you to an exciting and competitive tournament!
We aim to complete the competition on Saturday, so the entry cut-off date is set earlier. This ensures we have sufficient time to finalise draws and schedules. Please note that event details may be updated as we approach the tournament. While Sportdata may not always reflect the latest changes, this announcement is the official notification for all proceedings.
To ensure fair competition and correct affiliations, clubs must submit entry requests on behalf of their members. This helps prevent teammates from being drawn against each other in early rounds. In the past, individual registrations without club affiliations have caused some confusion. Once entries are confirmed, clubs can proceed with player registration.
Athletes must be entered by Saturday, 8th March. Clubs that miss this deadline should not be surprised if athlete entries are closed. To avoid disappointment, please ensure all registrations are completed on time!
Coach Registration
All coaches that will be used in the chair for athletes must have a current passport-like photograph to register in Sportdata, and all coaches must have successfully passed the 2024/2025 NZ Online Coaches Level 1 Examination. [Link Here]
The Premier grades for this tournament include Cadet, Junior, U21, Senior, and Veterans. Age eligibility will be determined as of 6th June 2025, aligning with selection criteria for the 2025 Oceania Championships. The Para Kata category will also follow the same age determination date.
